History

Board Foot began in 2007 as Spalted Inc., making its home in the original Gibson Guitar Factory. After five years of sweat, and sawdust, Spalted Inc. outgrew its space and moved its operations to Portage, MI. With a new name and expanded capabilities, Board Foot continues to offer the highest standards of design and craftsmanship throughout West Michigan and beyond.
 

The Principal
Hans Parker Jüntünen is originally from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, an area rich in copper, timber, and old world values.  After studying economics and art at Kalamazoo College, Hans came back to his passion - woodworking. Combining an artistic eye with a passion for natural resources and construction, Hans guides the Board Foot team and works directly with each project.
